We believe that collaborating with diverse partners and establishing a broad-based constituency is essential to identify health needs and programming gaps of those populations most vulnerable to oral diseases. Membership in Oral Health Nevada is open to dental and health professionals, educators, industry, government agencies, institutions, organizations and the general public – please join us.

Nevada Oral Health Matters

More than 500 medications negatively affect the oral cavity.
A routine oral health exam can detect signs and symptoms of many health conditions.
Approximately 43% of Americans lack dental insurance.
Medicare, the health insurance for most older adults, does not cover basic dental care.
Oral diseases are progressive and cumulative and become more complex over time, and they are preventable.
In the US, more than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental disease, leading to increased educational disparities.
Periodontal disease is associated with poor blood sugar control for those living with diabetes.
Even individuals with dentures should receive a dental exam at least annually.
Nearly half of all US adults have some form of periodontitis.
Left untreated, dental disease can lead to malnourishment, bacterial infections, required emergency surgery and even death.
